Job Summary
Process release of information requests in a timely, accurate manner, safeguarding patient privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals access medical information and that releases comply with HIPAA and policies. Responsibilities include retrieving and returning charts, scanning medical records, date-stamping, validating requests and authorizations, performing quality checks for confidentiality and proper invoicing, and handling related tasks (incoming inquiries, filing, equipment maintenance). Requires strong organizational skills, proficiency with Word/Excel, typing 50 wpm, and a customer-service oriented approach within an HIPAA-compliant environment. This remote role emphasizes confidentiality, accurate information handling, and collaboration with clients and teams to meet requests.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (GED) required
- A minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or like setting preferred
- Strong computer software experience; general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to type 50 wpm
- Must be able to use fax, copier, scanning machine
- Must be willing to learn new equipment and processes quickly
- Must be self-motivated, a team player
- Must have proven customer satisfaction skills
