Rock Driller

Job Summary
Experienced Rock Driller needed to operate drilling equipment across Halifax Regional Municipality. Responsibilities include drilling blast holes to specified depths and angles per drill plans, performing pre-operation checks and routine maintenance, assisting blasting crews, adhering to safety policies, documenting reports, and communicating unsafe conditions to supervision. The role requires strong drilling and blasting knowledge, mechanical aptitude, organization, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Valid Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation is required; Heavy Equipment Operator certification and GPS-guided drilling experience are assets.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience operating rock drills in a construction, quarry, or drilling and blasting environment
- Strong understanding of drilling and blasting operations, safety procedures, and industry best practices
- Experience reading drill plans and maintaining drilling accuracy
- Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation
- Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset
- Experience with GPS-guided drilling systems considered an asset
