Job Summary
Develop, program, commission, and optimize robotic welding systems for new and existing products while establishing robust parameters to maximize quality, repeatability, and throughput. Lead robotic weld cell startup activities, process validation, and production release, and troubleshoot complex welding, robotic, and automation issues. Optimize cycle times, develop standardized practices across production lines, and design and validate weld fixtures and tooling. Mentor technicians, programmers, and operators; develop standards and best practices; and lead root cause investigations for defects. Support Design for Manufacturability reviews, new product introductions, and capital equipment selection. Ensure all processes comply with customer specifications and industry standards while utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive scrap reduction and overall equipment effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline
- Equivalent experience
- 5+ years of robotic welding engineering experience
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing
- Experience with robotic MIG welding
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication
- Experience launching new manufacturing processes
- Experience supporting NPI
- Strong knowledge of Robotic programming
- Strong knowledge of MIG welding
- Strong knowledge of Weld metallurgy
- Strong knowledge of Welding parameters
- Strong knowledge of Weld fixture design
- Strong knowledge of GD&T
- Strong knowledge of Blueprint interpretation
- Strong knowledge of Process validation
- Strong knowledge of Statistical process control
- Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis
- Strong knowledge of PFMEA
- Strong knowledge of Control Plans
- Strong knowledge of APQP
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD
- Experience using ERP/MES systems
