Job Summary
Conduct production welding and tack welding to pole shafts using the GMAW process to assemble products for the unit. Manually position shafts on stationary turners and utilize a jib crane to lift base plates and arm mounting simplex into position. Read and interpret drawings to locate parts, then use plasma torches and jigs to cut steel and insert components. Measure distances and angles with precision tools while performing assembly tasks in confined areas along the pole assembly line. Maintain safety awareness and complete required weld tests to ensure quality. Work the 3rd shift from 11 PM to 7 AM Monday through Friday at Valmont's Brenham facility.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read and write English
- Ability to use common manufacturing math
- 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or have graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding
- Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 years previous experience welding in an assembly environment
- 1 years previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- 1 years previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
- Must possess adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected production effectively
- Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20 or better
- Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shifts
- Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over, and occasional climbing
- Lifting up to 50 pounds 10% of the time, average weight of parts lifted is 25 pounds
- Must possess the ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assurance
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- Must be available for 3rd shift (Nights) Monday - Friday 11PM - 7AM
