Job Summary
Robot Technician/Robot Programmer for an advanced manufacturing and automation environment, responsible for setup, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning of robotic welding and material handling systems across production and customer sites. Activities include robot setup, touch-up, and intermediate programming; supporting full robot builds from delivery through commissioning (including DCS setup, job structures, PLC communication, and safety configuration); programming and troubleshooting MIG welding systems; performing weld cell assembly/disassembly; shim tooling to meet tolerances using prints and CMM feedback; conducting cut & etch inspections; reading blueprints and weld prints; troubleshooting robot, tooling, and electrical issues including sensor failures and blown fuses; assisting with HMI and PLC interactions; traveling to customer sites for tooling installs, issue resolution, and commissioning support; working cross-functionally with Controls and Engineering teams during builds, installs, and troubleshooting. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, hands-on technical training or experience, 2–5+ years robotics experience, FANUC experience preferred, MIG welding and basic machining, basic pneumatic, blueprint/weld print literacy, PLC/HMI familiarity, basic electrical troubleshooting, GD&T knowledge, and willingness to travel 30–40%.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical School, Vocational Training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
- 2–5+ years robotics technician or robot programming experience
- Experience with FANUC robot platform preferred
- Experience with welding power supplies
- MIG welding fundamentals and basic machining experience
- Basic pneumatic system knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld prints
- Basic understanding of PLC and HMI interaction with robotic systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting using voltmeter (AC/DC)
- Experience building or supporting robot systems from setup through startup preferred
- Understanding of GD&T, tooling tolerances, and quality adjustment processes preferred
- Willingness to travel approximately 30–40% based on project needs
