Job Summary
Technician supports installation, maintenance, and repair of roadway electrical infrastructure including traffic signals, highway lighting, ITS systems, and underground conduit systems. Works under the direction of a Foreman or Licensed Electrician to execute field tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and KYTC standards. Responsible for assisting with installation of traffic signal systems, roadway lighting, underground conduit, wire pulling, trenching, foundations/pole erection, material handling, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining safe job sites while following construction drawings and safety procedures. Emphasis on teamwork, learning roadway electrical systems, and adherence to safety practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1–3 years of construction experience preferred (electrical or civil a plus)
- Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment
- Willingness to learn roadway electrical systems and installation practices
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow procedures
- Ability to learn new skills quickly
