Job Summary
The Roadway Paving General Superintendent is responsible for providing safety leadership, managing concrete paving staff, and ensuring project progression according to schedule and budget. The role requires coordinating personnel activities, overseeing project plans and estimates, managing resources, and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and regulatory agencies. The position entails handling claims management, supervising project closeout, and debriefing on project performance, along with active participation in industry committees. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and have at least ten years of relevant experience. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience
- At least ten (10) years of related experience in highway construction, concrete paving, and management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Goal oriented – ability to set goals and achieve them
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to lead diverse teams and work well with diverse organizational levels
- Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize, and monitor activities and projects
- Knowledge and experience of federal, state, and local regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of prevailing wage rules
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with managing roadway projects with the Florida Department of Transportation, Aviation Authorities, or Port Authorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Preferred proficiencies include HeavyJob / HeavyBid and Primavera P6
- Experience working with Gomaco and/or Wirtgen slip form paving trains, including belt placer spreaders, concrete pavers, texture/cure machines, and central mix concrete batch plants
Additional Requirements
- Able to frequently work nights and weekends
- Frequent travel throughout Florida is required
