Job Summary
Lead the Ottawa Roadway Team by managing personnel, resourcing, and recruitment while serving as Project Manager and Technical Lead for small to large-scale assignments from concept through delivery. Supervise and mentor technical staff in Ottawa and GTA, prepare project management plans, and control scope, schedule, and budget. Support client and pipeline development for City of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario municipalities, acting as capture manager for proposals and collaborating with internal counterparts for workshare. Track P&L performance, including utilization and profitability, and maintain technical quality aligned with City of Ottawa standards. Mentor project staff, participate in hiring processes, and actively engage in professional societies.
Required Qualifications
- A university degree in civil engineering or related degree
- P.Eng. designation
- 15+ years of related project experience on municipal roadway projects
- Experience in personnel management and mentoring
- Familiarity with roadway design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, ORD)
- Technical excellence in civil & roadway design and in particular experience applying City of Ottawa design standards and policies
- A thorough understanding of the requirements and complexities of the design and management of multi-disciplinary projects, such as utility coordination, construction staging, traffic management, public consultation, external agency approvals, communication and liaison, coordination of sub-consultants and design groups, schedule and budget control, quality control, construction administration and claims resolution
- Sponsorship for Canadian Work authorization
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in BRT, LRT including intermodal transit facilities
- Experience in civil engineering support to aviation infrastructure
- Experience integrating roadway, stormwater, sanitary, and water infrastructure into integrated tender drawings and specifications
- Experience with public consultation and stakeholder management
- Experience in the design of rural, northern, and remote roadways and infrastructure
- Familiarity and experience with various delivery models and P3 projects
- A strong professional network in the Ottawa Area and Eastern Ontario
- Leadership involvement in professional societies
