Job Summary
Install, load, and unload guardrail systems, traffic control devices, and roadway safety equipment while operating sign trucks and other traffic control machinery. Place and remove barricades, assist crews with manual labor and tool usage, and conduct pre-use inspections of vehicles and equipment. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and follow all safety policies while traveling to job sites throughout Alabama and surrounding states. Work overtime, nights, weekends, or extended hours as needed to support project schedules, including overnight stays when project requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to perform occasional team lifts up to 150 pounds
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
- Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain
- Must be able to safely handle tools, materials, and equipment in a physically demanding environment
- Must be able to travel regularly and stay overnight when project requirements dictate
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Desired Qualifications
- Previous construction, roadway, traffic control, guardrail, utility, or outdoor labor experience
- Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, hand tools, power tools, and traffic control equipment
- Ability to learn and operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, post drivers, and post pullers
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and willingness to follow established procedures
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and assist in multiple types of roadway projects
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and adapt to changing job site conditions
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous roadway construction, traffic control, guardrail installation, utility construction, landscaping, heavy labor, or construction experience
- Experience flagging traffic
- GPS, mapping, and basic computer experience
