Job Summary
Roadway Engineer responsibilities include designing and planning roadway alignments, preparing construction plans and specifications, planning traffic operations (signals, roundabouts, signage, markings, and maintenance-of-traffic plans), conducting data analyses (traffic impact studies, capacity, crash data, warrant analyses), ensuring safety and maintenance of infrastructure, and collaborating with surveyors, urban planners, and government agencies; requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, EIT license, and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and traffic-simulation tools, plus familiarity with MUTCD and state DOT standards.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Licensure: EIT required
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or traffic simulation software (Synchro, VISSIM)
- Technical Knowledge: MUTCD familiarity and state DOT standards
