Roadway Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct data collection, existing condition analysis, and alternative evaluations for engineering reports. Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, perform cross section and superelevation design, and design roadside barriers, ADA curb ramps, and roadway models. Execute MOT and traffic-related plans while managing cost estimating, specifications, and highway plans for construction bid packages. Requires a BS in Civil Engineering, five years of relevant experience, and WV or Ohio PE licensure. Proficiency in Microstation and Open Roads Designer is mandatory, with prior experience at WVDOT or ODOT required.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
- WV or Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure required or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of civil engineering design concepts
- Experience performing design for roadway transportation projects, including cost estimating, specifications and highway plans for construction bid packages
- Experience with transportation design standards
- Experience with Microstation and Open Roads Designer (ORD)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior work experience with WVDOT
- Prior work experience with ODOT
- Prior work experience with City of Columbus
- Prior work experience with other municipalities and other state DOT's
- Experience in ORD intersection and roadway corridor modeling
- Experience with AutoCad and/or Civil3D
- Experience with GIS applications such as ArcGIS or Google Earth
- Experience with SignCAD, AutoTurn
- Completion of various ODOT prequalification courses
- Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
