Job Summary
Provide professional engineering design services for roadway improvement projects in the Carolinas, overseeing design development, production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates. Collaborate with clients, sub-consultants, and technical staff to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements while directing and mentoring design support staff. Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by collecting and analyzing data, performing routine calculations, and evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions. This role supports diverse transportation projects including new locations, widening, bicycle and pedestrian initiatives, highway safety, and design-build efforts across all phases from advanced planning to construction support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering
- North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5 - 10 years of transportation roadway design experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
Desired Qualifications
- NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK
- OpenRoads experience is a plus
