Job Summary
Conduct roadside assistance for stranded motorists, including flat tires, jumpstarts, minor repairs, and refueling. Remove stalled vehicles from toll lanes and ramps, clear roadway debris, and coordinate large debris removal with DOT personnel. Facilitate traffic flow by diverting vehicles to alternate routes during major incidents and maintaining alternate route plans. Coordinate with local law enforcement and DOT for emergency conditions and plaza maintenance. Perform daily plaza and ramp checks, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and arrive on time in uniform. Work first or second shifts Wednesday through Sunday with on-call flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license
- Availability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to read, write and interpret the English language
- Have a thorough knowledge of all areas and landmarks surrounding toll roads in order to provide directions to motorists
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment
- Ability to maintain a calm, pleasant and mannerly demeanor when speaking with the public
- Ability to effectively respond to customer problems or complaints
- Superior communication skills, verbal and written
- Must be proactive with strong personal drive
- Proven customer service skills
- Must be willing to lead by example
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
