Job Summary
Respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members using a tow truck or service vehicle, providing emergency services like tire changes, jump starts, and lockout assistance. Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures, complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections, and accurately document daily activities and service calls. Verify membership and deliver outstanding customer service while utilizing tablets to manage calls and update service requests. Maintain a clean vehicle, adhere to safety protocols, and achieve goals related to member satisfaction and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents
- Must successfully pass drug screening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and DOT physical examination
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits
- Basic math and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to successfully complete AAA training programs
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver's license is required
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience providing roadside assistance services such as battery testing, jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes
- Previous tow truck driving experience
- Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment
- Commercial driving experience
- Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitude
