Job Summary
Manage assigned employees and oversee signal system maintenance, ensuring end-to-end regulatory compliance with Federal Railroad Administration standards and company policies. Audit preventive measures, testing procedures, and root cause investigations to enhance system resiliency while preparing KPI analysis and incident reports. Provide clear direction, train team members, and enforce safety best practices in an active railroad environment. Maintain up-to-date training qualifications and respond to emergency calls 24/7. Requires a valid driver's license, NORAC certification, and 5+ years of signal construction or maintenance experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in signal, train control, and grade crossing warning system (signal systems) construction or maintenance
- Strong working knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations, specifically Title 49 CFR, including but not limited to Parts 214, 228, 233, 234, 235, and 236
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices governing the construction and maintenance of signal systems
- Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credential
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain current NORAC Operating Rules and Roadway Worker Protection certification
- Must be able to safely and responsibly work outdoors in all conditions in an active railroad environment
- Must be available to respond to emergency calls 24/7
- Must attend and actively participate in all meetings and/or training classes as assigned
- Must be able to provide clear direction and safe leadership at all times
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively train and mentor team members
Desired Qualifications
- at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Experience in applying collective bargaining agreements within a heavily unionized environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with various disciplines and levels, both internally and externally
- Strong working knowledge of testing procedures for signal apparatus and systems, with the ability to interpret instructions accurately and oversee testing to ensure safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance
