Job Summary
Operate light and heavy construction equipment including dump trucks, water trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, and graders while performing skilled manual labor on county roads, bridges, right of way, street signs, and other assigned structures. Execute maintenance and repair tasks requiring complex adjustments, adhere to written or oral instructions, and exert physical effort to meet job demands. Possess a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License and six months of experience operating such machinery. Pre-employment drug testing, physical fitness testing, and a criminal background check are required before employment confirmation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Six (6) months of experience operating light and heavy equipment
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s)
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment and its operation
- Skilled in the operation and control of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials requiring complex and/or rapid adjustments
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- Ability to exert physical effort to meet the demands of the task
- Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture and visual cues or signals
- Ability to communicate orally
- Ability to meet physical demands that serve as the essential functions of the job
- Ability to undergo pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to pass physical fitness testing
- Ability to pass criminal background check
