Job Summary

Conduct semi-skilled maintenance and repair on highways and storm drain systems, assisting with snow removal and minimal landscaping. Perform crack sealing, asphalt patching, and concrete installation while setting up traffic warning signs and operating equipment such as 10-wheelers, Bobtail trucks, and street sweepers. Maintain tools and equipment, prepare daily work records, and comply with OSHA and MUTCD safety regulations. Work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and high traffic volumes, with occasional physical demands involving lifting over 50 lbs. Respond to emergency events or declared states of emergency as directed to restore essential public services.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License accepted by the State of Utah
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card
  • Ability to attend flagging training and certify within sixty (60) days and recertify every two (2) years
  • Ability to attend a Defensive Driving course within the first two (2) weeks of hire and recertify as required by county policy
  • Ability to attend and be forklift certified within four (4) months (120 days) of hire
  • Verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test
  • Ability to comply with random alcohol and drug testing
  • Ability to comply with post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing
  • Six (6) months of work experience in a related field
  • Ability to lift objects over 50 lbs
  • Ability to carry objects up to 100 lbs with some assistance
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work at heights up to three (3) stories
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, smoke, and loud noises
  • Ability to work with high volumes of traffic
  • Ability to respond to work prior to or after the scheduled shift
  • Ability to respond to emergency events or officially declared State of Emergency

Additional Requirements

  • Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting
  • Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing
