Job Summary
Patrols the County to enforce traffic and other laws, responds to robberies, domestic disputes, and other citizen complaints, conducts investigations by collecting evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and preserves crime scenes; makes arrests and handles warrants; provides first aid and escorts for detainees and transported subjects; prepares detailed activity reports and may appear in court; may be assigned to detective division, traffic, special service teams, school liaison, or other specialized assignments; required skills include knowledge of laws, investigative procedures, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR, and radar/breathalyzer use; education requirement includes an associate degree in police administration or related fields with related experience, and certification by the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Training Council; valid Michigan Driver’s License. The role involves field patrol, accident response, crime scene processing, evidence handling, and court appearances, with potential for specialized unit assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Certification by the Michigan law Enforcement Officers Training Council
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, PBT, radar, and firearms safety
- Associates degree in police administration, criminal justice or related areas, or equivalent experience
- Two years’ experience as a law enforcement officer may be considered to substitute for the educational requirement
