Job Summary
Maintain road and drainage infrastructure by performing maintenance, brush cutting, trimming, and trash removal. Assist paving crews in constructing roads and drainage improvements while operating manual and hand power tools safely. Patch roadways, install pipes, mark concrete driveways, and clean drain ditches. Provide flagging assistance on construction sites and maintain heavy equipment including motor graders, pavers, and loaders. Prepare department documents and compile data according to established policies. Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, two years of road maintenance experience, and the ability to exert medium physical effort in adverse environmental conditions. This Civil Service position offers health insurance, retirement, and paid holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience performing road maintenance and/or construction work
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License
- Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work
- Tasks may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (50 - 100 pounds)
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion
- Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals
- Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally
