Job Summary
Maintain road and drainage infrastructure by performing maintenance, brush cutting, trash removal, and patching roadways. Assist paving crews in construction projects, install pipes and drainage culverts, and mark concrete driveways. Operate manual power tools safely and provide flagging assistance to direct traffic during road work. Clean and perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment including motor graders, pavers, rollers, and loaders. Prepare department documents and compile data while adhering to safety protocols and handling heavy lifting tasks. This role supports Cameron County's public works efforts with a minimum salary of $32,547.00.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience performing road maintenance and/or construction work
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License
- Ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials of heavy weight (50 - 100 pounds)
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motion
- Ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals
- Ability to communicate orally
- Exposure to adverse environmental conditions including damp/wet surfaces, duty conditions, fumes and odors, flammable liquids and high noise levels
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
