Job Summary
Road Crew Operator II role at Hudbay in Sahuarita, AZ. Operates heavy equipment to support building and maintaining site roads and work areas, and to support construction of various projects around the site. Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and potential hazards, understanding equipment components and practices to reduce wear, may perform minor maintenance, builds and maintains roads, and supports other earthwork projects. Works with the training department to help train new operators and may assist with other projects as needed. Requires a High School diploma or GED, three years of mining experience, two years’ experience operating heavy machinery for road/earthwork projects, ability to obtain Caterpillar certification, ability to operate heavy equipment, ability to work in fast-paced environments, withstand extreme outdoor temperatures, lift up to 50lbs, and operate up to 12-hour shifts; drug-free workplace and valid driver’s license. Preferred MSHA, Caterpillar certifications, and Class A/B CDL with N Endorsement.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Three years’ experience in the Mining industry
- Two years’ experience operating heavy machinery building roads/ pads /earthwork projects
- Ability to achieve Caterpillar certification for operating a backhoe, water truck, and tractor
- Ability to operate Heavy Equipment
- Ability to work & multi-task in a fast -paced environment
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Can move over uneven terrain
- Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift
- Maintain a drug and alcohol-free workplace
- Have reliable personal transportation to the site location (transportation at the site will be in company vehicles)
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current MSHA
- Current Caterpillar certifications
- Current Class A or Class B CDL with N Endorsement
