Job Summary
Registered nurse in a psychiatric healthcare setting providing holistic care to acute or transitional mental health patients and families. Responsible for maintaining therapeutic environment, executing treatment plans, conducting bio-psychosocial assessments, delivering individual and group therapies, leading interdisciplinary care conferences, communicating and documenting plans of care, mentoring and coaching staff, managing crisis and safety practices, participating in quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with mandatory requirements (e.g., TB, CPR, CPI).
Required Qualifications
- Arkansas Licensed Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current Arkansas Registered Nurse license
- Experience with adolescents and children in a psychiatric setting preferred
- Lift and hold at least 50 pounds for one minute
- Must be physically capable to perform clinical duties including sitting/standing for extended periods
- Ability to use and interpret clinical and treatment equipment
- Flu shot is mandatory and required for all positions
- Must be willing and able to work with all patients in Methodist Family Health
- Ability to document progress notes and communicate with team
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications and crisis prevention intervention (CPI) techniques
- Ability to provide education to patients and families about therapies/interventions/diagnoses
- Ability to participate in quality improvement processes
- Must be able to access and interpret pathology reports and communicate changes to physicians
- Ability to adhere to hospital policy regarding seclusion/restraints
- Willingness to work with interdisciplinary team and attend nursing meetings
- Experience with phlebotomy and waived testing (CAP/CLIA)
- Ability to use telephone and computer for written communication
