Job Summary
Conduct health assessments and develop care plans for wound, ostomy, and continence patients under the direction of the Wound and Ostomy Manager. Assist with standards of care revisions, document patient responses to treatments, and evaluate clinical staff delivery. Teach families on complication prevention and initiate preventative measures for pressure injuries. Participate in unit and hospital-wide quality improvement activities while maintaining data confidentiality. Provide culturally competent education to patients and staff. Must hold a Wound care certificate, three to five years of healthcare experience, and an active NYS RN license. Willing to float as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Wound care certificate
- Three to five (3-5) years' experience in healthcare
- Active NYS Registered Nurse license
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB; or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the (WOCNCB); or Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM); or Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)
- Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to float as needed
- Hands On and Pressure Injury experience
