Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient-centered nursing care to medical, surgical, intensive care, and postpartum units for patients ranging from pediatric to elderly. Manage patient care through the nursing process while critically thinking and self-directing to handle assigned responsibilities. Collaborate with team members, health care providers, families, and crisis intervention personnel to ensure effective communication and customer service across all age levels. Maintain competency through formal orientation and department-specific certifications including ACLS, TNCC, and PALS.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Training Equivalent
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Must be able to critically think
- Must be self-directed to manage patient care
- Must be able to collaborate and negotiate with team members
- Must be able to teach to all age levels
- Must be able to communicate effectively to health care providers, families, and patients and other involved providers
- Must have strong customer services skills
- Must be adept with communication to collaborate with patients/families/visitors and other departments/facilities
- Must understand and use the nursing process
- Must be able to deliver care to medical and surgical inpatients and outpatients
- Must be able to deliver care across units for pediatric to elderly
- Must be able to deliver care for medical, surgical, intensive care and postpartum/routine newborn nursery care
- Must be able to work in a Drug Free Workplace
- Must pass a drug screen
- Must pass pre-employment background screening
