Job Summary
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with progressive medical needs, monitoring vital signs, neurological status, respiratory function, renal function, and infection indicators while administering medications and procedures with accuracy. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and case managers to develop individualized care plans, and educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and post-discharge needs. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and uphold patient safety practices within the MPCU. Work weekend nights in a collaborative, mission-driven environment supporting Mercy's values of service, dignity, justice, excellence, and stewardship.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical progressive care, medical-surgical, telemetry, or other progressive/acute care settings
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within a specified timeframe)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification (if applicable to patient population or unit protocols)
