Job Summary
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults with complex medical conditions, monitoring vital signs, neurological status, and respiratory function while administering medications and interventions. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized care plans, educate patients and families on treatment needs, and document assessments accurately in the electronic medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards within the Medical Progressive Care Unit. This weekend night shift role supports Mercy's mission of service and dignity in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience in medical progressive care, medical-surgical, telemetry, or other progressive/acute care settings
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within a specified timeframe)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification (if applicable to patient population or unit protocols)
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
