Job Summary
Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Assess and document educational needs of patients and significant others, then interpret diagnostic and laboratory data to promote optimal health or dignified end-of-life care. Perform patient hand-offs using safety tools like SBAR and communicate subjective and objective data with the multidisciplinary team. Delegate tasks to unlicensed health care providers and LPNs within their documented scope of practice. Participate in process improvement activities, unit huddles, and professional growth programs while completing mandatory certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS. If required, take weekend shifts or alternate shifts as deemed by department needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- The ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- The ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
