RN - Vascular Surgery ICU / Vascular ICU provides patient-centered, high-acuity care on neuro/vascular cardiac ICU units, including supervision of non-RN personnel, acting as charge nurse, and contributing to education and plan-of-care development for patients across complex cardiovascular and neuro conditions. Responsibilities include ongoing assessment of physical and psychosocial status, development and documentation of individualized care plans with patient/family involvement, collaboration with the healthcare team, evaluation of care effectiveness and readiness for discharge, education for patients and families, and precepting new staff. The role requires competency in neuro assessment, airway management for neuro patients, tracheostomy care, post-operative vascular/cardiac patient management, and familiarity with devices and therapies used in cardiac ICU, including ECMO, LVADs, IABP, Impella, and related post-operative care. The unit emphasizes adherence to the organization’s values and standards of professional behavior, with accountability to Nursing Practice Act guidelines and clinical leadership.
