Job Summary
Supervise nursing services for a 24-hour long-term facility by overseeing professional and paraprofessional staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Directly manage shift scheduling, complete performance evaluations, and train employees in nursing care and infection control standards. Coordinate individual patient treatment plans with clinical staff and resolve personnel conflicts while ensuring adequate medical record keeping. Complete various nursing service reports and assist in required in-service training programs. Perform duties under limited supervision from the Nursing Director within the scope of RN licensure.
Required Qualifications
- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska
- one year of experience assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others
- Valid driver's license
- A pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Knowledge of registered nursing theory and practice
- Knowledge of accepted standards of care
- Knowledge of policies and procedures governing nursing care
- Knowledge of sanitation and infection control standards
- Knowledge of planning, providing, and evaluating quality nursing care
- Knowledge of Nebraska regulations pertaining to nursing practice, including scope of practice parameters
- Knowledge of psychology or another behavioral science
- Knowledge of supervision or management techniques, principles
- Skill in coordinating and providing nursing care
- Skill in directing nursing service program activities
- Ability to supervise a shift or program for nursing care
- Ability to oversee the maintenance of medical records
- Ability to write administrative reports as required
- Ability to communicate effectively electronically, telephonically, on paper, or in person
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to monitor direct care staff
- Ability to assist in training and education direct care staff
- Ability to plan, monitor work of direct care staff
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally and push/pull up to 75lbs on a daily basis
- Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck, frequently twist at the waist, and walk or stand up to 90% of the shift
- Monday - Friday 0800 - 1630
- Rotating On-Call - Including Some Weekends
