Job Summary
Direct the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care facility by performing general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating employees. Plan and facilitate meetings to address resident care issues, monitor clinical operations and census, and reassign personnel to meet resident needs and budgetary controls. Manage staffing patterns, obtain necessary medications and supplies, and ensure timely physician interventions while participating in facility quality assurance programs. Assist in orienting new personnel and guide staff requiring assistance with procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) (if state requires)
- Valid CPR teaching certificate, if applicable
- Three years of nursing experience, of which one year was in a long-term care environment
- Knowledge of state and federal requirements for accreditation and certification
- Possesses basic computer skills
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse resident and employee population
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing, degree preferred
