RN Unit Based Educator - Med Surg/Tele - Full Time Days (10hrs)

Job Summary
Conduct education for clinical and non-clinical staff by receiving new employees post-orientation, performing competency assessments, and supporting assimilation to the unit. Translate hospital objectives, regulatory measures, and risk needs into department-level understanding while documenting practice gaps and prioritizing learning needs based on patient safety and strategic goals. Develop and implement context-specific educational plans that address cultural, ethnic, and generational differences, utilizing evidence-based practices to optimize care and enhance professional competence. Collaborate with inter-professional teams, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and mentor nurses to advance the profession within the MLKCH framework.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in respective specialty
- Current California Nursing license
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD)
- Certification in clinical area of specialty
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing
- Two (2) years of educator experience
- Bilingual skills
- Basic computer skills
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NRP within 6 months of hire/transfer/notice
- Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Certificate within 6 months of hire/transfer/notice
