Job Summary
Conduct patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards of Practice. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for patients and families, and communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources as a leader on the interdisciplinary team. Evaluate outcomes, promote change, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Adapt communication styles to diverse patient populations while respecting privacy and cultural diversity. Perform duties involving exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications in a Level I Trauma Center setting.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds constantly
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Ability to push and/or pull arm or leg controls
- Ability to work at a production rate pace
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to protect patient/employee safety
- Ability to protect patient privacy
- Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous waste
- Ability to work in a healthcare setting
- Ability to work in a patient care area
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle exposure to all communicable diseases
- Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment
- Ability to receive, transport, store, prepare, dispense, administer, clean and/or dispose of contaminated waste
- Ability to reside in and work in North Louisiana (excluding Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C.)
