Job Summary
Coordinate patient transfers throughout the health system by consulting nursing leadership, house supervisors, and providers to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time. Conduct assessments and reassessments of all patients to verify appropriate specialty services and correct care levels are met in each healthcare location. Maintain knowledge of MCNDH policies, procedures, and EMR functionality related to patient movement while managing provider schedules, call schedules, and specialty services. Provide support for "Code Blue" and "Rapid Response" teams by evaluating critical care resources and facilitating patient movement. Perform daily reviews of each hospital's staffing and resources, communicate issues via the chain of command, and address patient and staff complaints to resolve them at the time of service.
Required Qualifications
- graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing
- current licensure by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing for Registered Nurse
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Professional knowledge of nursing care principles, quality management, ethics, infection prevention practices and processes
- Knowledge of a wide variety of medical disorders, normal course of diseases, potential complications and individual therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects and complications of their use
- Ability to recognize and react to emergency situations
- Knowledge and skill in operation and monitoring of general nursing equipment, e.g. infusion pumps, defibrillators, arrhythmia monitors, etc.
- Ability to triage and assign resources based on patient clinical needs and acuity
- Ability to supervise and evaluate nursing staff
- Knowledge necessary to manage a fiscal budget
- Computer literacy and ability to become proficient on electronic medical record
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in oral and written forms with providers, nurses, patients, and hospital administration
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
