Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the ICU, correlating the nursing process with the medical plan of care. Assess assigned patients, implement and document care, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures. Administer medications within scope of practice while establishing patient care goals and teaching families regarding conditions and self-care. Requires current Alabama Board of Nursing license, BLS, and ACLS certification after six months. Reports to a manager or head of unit.
Required Qualifications
- Current License with the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Current BLS
- Associate's degree
- Certified as a registered nurse
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
- Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Must possess the ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs
- Must possess the ability to provide care needed as described in policy and procedure
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment
- ACLS after 6 months
