Job Summary
Perform and monitor non-pharmacologic, pharmacologic, and PET stress tests while preparing patients for testing and providing education on dietary restrictions and medication holds. Recognize EKG and cardiac rhythm abnormalities, record tracings, and document vital signs throughout procedures, responding to adverse reactions under physician direction. Provide daily leadership and clinical oversight for the Stress Testing department by coordinating workflow, staffing, and scheduling. Mentor nursing staff through onboarding, competency validation, and coaching while promoting adherence to clinical protocols and infection prevention. Monitor department quality indicators, assist with performance evaluations, and collaborate with physicians and technologists to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois
- Minimum of two (2) years of critical care, emergency, cardiology, or comparable clinical experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Successful completion of assigned EKG, stress testing, and cardiology education within twelve (12) months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Previous leadership, charge nurse, or preceptor experience
- Advanced certification in cardiology or cardiovascular nursing
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
