RN T4 Surgical ICU (Casual), West Penn Hospital

Provide leadership in a 10-bed Surgical ICU, assessing human responses and implementing nursing care for diverse surgical, cardiac, and stroke patients. Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, while managing ventilated patients and complex interventions like CRRT and cardiac catheterizations. Participate in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care, promote patient safety initiatives, and ensure appropriate order sets are used. Deliver verbal and written feedback to peers, supervise LPN scope of practice, and continuously evaluate patient and family satisfaction. Maintain a safe environment by considering patient condition and intervention complexity, while documenting all interventions and notifying physicians of condition changes.
