Job Summary
Conduct critical care nursing for complex adult patients in a new 16-bed Surgical/Trauma ICU, managing trauma victims, maternal-fetal medicine cases, and high-acuity surgical patients including post-op liver transplants and aortic aneurysm repairs. Provide specialized care for patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, and Swan-Ganz catheters while collaborating across disciplines in a fast-paced, evidence-based environment. Work 90% FTE on 12-hour evening/night shifts (3:00 pm–7:30 am) with every-other weekend rotation and holiday coverage. Requires BSN, six months nursing experience, and ACLS certification within six months.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
- Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
- ACLS within 6 months
- Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health's Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit
- 90% FTE
- 8/12-hour evening/night shift between the hours of 3:00 pm - 7:30 am
- every other weekend rotation
- Holiday rotation required
- Work at University Hospital in Madison, WI
