Job Summary
Assess patient needs and implement teaching strategies for diverse groups, including patients, families, and other disciplines. Delegate and manage nursing team resources effectively while serving as a leader on the interdisciplinary team. Use data to evaluate and promote changes that achieve optimal patient outcomes. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations and respect privacy during introductions and procedure explanations. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to be self-directed
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement
- Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds constantly
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Ability to push and/or pull arm or leg controls
- Ability to work at a production rate pace
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to work with hazardous medications
- Ability to work with hazardous waste
- Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws
- Ability to ensure compliance with accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws
- Ability to ensure compliance with Ochsner Health's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct
