Job Summary

Assess patient needs and implement teaching strategies for diverse groups, while effectively using the nursing process to deliver care on the Surgical Stepdown Unit. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources as a leader on the interdisciplinary team, ensuring accountability for quality patient outcomes. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Perform duties involving exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications in a patient care area.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to present information clearly and professionally
Strong interpersonal skills
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to be self-directed
Ability to demonstrate good judgement
Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally
Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently
Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds constantly
Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
Ability to push and/or pull arm or leg controls
Ability to work at a production rate pace
Ability to work in an area where patients enter
Ability to work directly with patients
