Job Summary
Provide patient care on the Surgical & Orthopedic Care Unit using the nursing process, maintaining accountability for assigned patients and coordinating care with other departments. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers while ensuring patient rights and confidentiality are upheld. Manage a diverse patient population including post-operative cases, orthopedic procedures, and specialized care such as bariatric surgery and sepsis within a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio. Work nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM as part of a full-time, 36-hour week.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Active RN license (state-specific or compact)
- Must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- BLS – Basic Life Support (or within 30 days of hire)
- Any unit-specific certifications (with timeline for completion)
- Regularly lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing/walking throughout shift
- Ability to bend, kneel, twist, squat as needed
