RN Surgical ICU - Trauma - Full Time

Job Summary
Lead the provision of patient care in the Surgical ICU using the nursing process, effectively delegating and directing licensed team members while managing nursing resources. Assess learning needs for patients and families, communicate clearly with diverse individuals, and adapt explanations to specific patient populations. Evaluate outcomes using data to promote change and maintain involvement in unit strategic goals. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professional accountability in all interactions. Perform other related duties as required within a patient care area where exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications is possible.
Required Qualifications
- Registered nurse diploma
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (i.e. 2 weeks nights then 2 weeks days or vice versa)
- Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects
- Occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force
- Residence in and willingness to work in an area other than: Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, Washington D.C.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
