Job Summary
RN First Assistant in the Operating Room: Organizes and facilitates patient care in the OR, functions as a first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair, participates in preoperative assessment, and collaborates with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and room staff. Maintains sterile technique, performs circulating/scrubbing duties, validates surgical site, maintains counts, assists with cannulation/decannulation as indicated, and supports patient care planning and team communication. Requires RN licensure, RNFA program completion, CNOR certification, and BLS/CPR per AH policy.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards: Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
- CPR certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from AH policy: Required
