Job Summary
Assess patient learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and group needs. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources while serving as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team. Use data to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Perform other related duties as required, including handling specimens that may contain communicable diseases. Work directly with patients in a patient care area where exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications is possible.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds constantly
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Ability to push and/or pull arm or leg controls
- Ability to work at a production rate pace
- Ability to move objects
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter
- Ability to work directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to receive, transport, store, prepare, dispense, administer, clean, and/or dispose of contaminated waste
- Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws
- Knowledge of accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
- Ability to report known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Ability to ensure compliance with patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
