Job Summary
Assess patients, implement department protocols, and provide appropriate nursing interventions while actively facilitating patient flow in the Emergency Services department. Treat patients, families, and co-workers in a customer-friendly manner by providing comfort measures, maintaining a clean environment, and calling patients for follow-up as assigned. Maintain accurate records by legibly documenting patient care, charges, triage times, bed placement, and discharge times. Implement life support procedures during emergency situations and direct patients to the D/C area for collections to promote cost consciousness. Keep up-to-date knowledge of emergency nursing procedures, equipment, medications, and legal aspects, ensuring BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are maintained. Requires current Alabama RN license or multi-state license with prior critical care or ER experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Current Alabama RN license or a current RN multi-state license
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly
- Must have knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual
- BCLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment
- ACLS, and PALS must be obtained within the first year of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior critical care or emergency room experience preferred
- TNCC is preferred
