Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients by implementing the medical plan of care and policies. Assess patient status, administer medications within scope of practice, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures. Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and teaching families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Requires current Alabama Board of Nursing license, BLS certification, and ACLS within six months. Full-time first shift position in DeKalb Surgery.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current License with the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Current BLS
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs
- Ability to provide care needed as described in policy and procedure
- ACLS after 6 months
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment
- PALS
