Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Labor & Delivery Unit while correlating the nursing process with the medical plan of care. Assess assigned patients, implement and document care plans, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures. Administer medications within scope of practice and promote patient independence by establishing care goals and teaching families about conditions and self-care skills. Requires current Alabama Board of Nursing license, BLS certification, and ACLS within six months.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Certified as a registered nurse
- Current License with the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Current BLS
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs
- Ability to provide care needed as described in policy and procedure
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment
- ACLS after 6 months
- PALS
