Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the DeKalb Emergency Department by implementing the nursing process and medical plan of care. Assess assigned patients, administer medications, perform various patient tests, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures. Establish patient care goals, teach patients and families about conditions and self-care skills, and document all care within policy and procedure. Requires an associate's degree, current Alabama Board of Nursing license, and BLS certification. Full-time or PRN schedule with a sign-on bonus for full-time employees.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current License with the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Current BLS
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs
- Ability to provide care needed as described in policy and procedure
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment
- ACLS certification (after 6 months)
