Job Summary
Perform initial and ongoing nursing assessments, identifying patient needs, risks, and priorities. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on physician orders and patient input while administering medications and treatments safely. Monitor patient responses to interventions, providing pre- and post-operative care including wound management, pain control, and mobility support. Respond promptly to emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions such as CPR or rapid response activation. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and discharge instructions while advocating for their preferences and safety. Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, communicating effectively during handoffs and participating in daily huddles and quality improvement activities. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and serve as a clinical resource to nursing students.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Possesses a nursing license in good standing in the State of Alabama
- Current in BLS
Desired Qualifications
- Prior nursing experience
- Certified Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN)
