Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families while functioning as an expert nurse within the assigned unit's competency checklist. Provide effective leadership and direction to the nursing care team, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and personal care across all patient care and operational areas. Participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, including the wearing of a respirator which requires a clean-shaven face. This union position involves 12-hour night shifts at 0.3 FTE.
Required Qualifications
- Education required to qualify for license as a registered nurse
- Current California Registered Nurse License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through AHA
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate through AHA
- 12 months experience within the last three years within the specialty area
- Worked at minimum as RN III for at least one (1) year
- Must have and maintain national certification in medical-surgical care or critical care nursing
- Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures
- Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator which requires a clean-shaven face
- Must be available for 12 HR SHIFT Nights
- Must be able to demonstrate clinical competencies, including demonstrating EKG rhythms by exam, within probationary period
