Job Summary
Provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care in a GI and Pulmonology specialty procedural area, utilizing the nursing process to evaluate care and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams. Perform duties across three roles: admitting nurse, circulating nurse in the procedure room, and recovery/discharge nurse, managing 50-60 procedures daily. Interpret guidelines, operate specialty equipment, and communicate effectively with patients and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Work 8-hour weekday shifts with occasional afterhours call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Current valid state license
- CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment
- Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies
- Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public
- Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or the ability to learn these skills, in order to access information and enter clinical data
- Must be able to operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic
- Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Knowledge of medications and their effects
- Knowledge of patient education
- Knowledge of principles to develop a self-care program
- Knowledge of instruments and common safety practices
